Why do the students smell the paper in Fast Times at Ridgemont high?

I was a teacher, and I can guarantee that I forever saw precise student wanting smell a mimeographed paper. No faculty member ever despise to smell them either. It's a loathsome wanting smell that can make you choke! It was dreadful enjoy on work among the stuff. Thank goodness mimeograph machines are history! They were an unbelievable pain to office with. Thank goodness for photocopiers, which enjoy little or not at all scent.

Again, the students I saying would be "EWWWWW! Stink!" They certainly never stuck their olfactory nerves to the paper.

When I saw this in the movie, I thought, "They must be nuts!" I still think that albeit I see such bit.
